The word ‘Baptism’ often carries with it a lot of ‘religious’ meaning which might alarm some couples. A recent Gallop poll reports that 33% of people now identify themselves as Spiritual but not Religious. USA Today magazine has that percentage at 72%
We here at the chapel are aware of these figures and we do our best to accommodate parents no matter how they identify themselves: spiritual, religious, or neither of the forgoing.
We offer a personalized Welcoming Ceremony no matter your outlook on life. We know a welcoming ceremony is a very special way of celebrating the birth of your child and welcoming the new arrival into the family and the wider community.
It is also ideally suited to welcome and celebrate an adoptive child into the family or to embrace stepchildren into a new family. Our personalized ceremonies are a perfect way to help bond a family unit.
Whatever ceremony you choose is a great opportunity to declare before family and friends that you are making your promises to be as good a parent as you can, and for adult friends or relatives to confirm their special relationship with your child.
The best part of this is you have complete control over every word used in the ceremony and you also get to choose the celebrant who will conduct your ceremony.
There are a variety of Welcoming Ceremonies. One is called a Baptism ceremony (or Christening ceremony), the other is called a Naming ceremony. The Baptism ceremony is religious and the Naming ceremony, while very spiritual, is not. In both, the child receives a name and the parents pledge themselves to provide a good environment for their child.
